Russia’s neo-Eurasianism originates from divergent schools of thought. Alexander Dugin, the contemporary Russian thinker, has been constantly developing his unique Neo-Eurasianism by obtaining anti-liberal elements from both western politics and Russian traditions. The essence of neo-Eurasianism is kind of geopolitical thought. In the 21st century, Dugin attaches “post-modernism” to his neo-Eurasianism. Dugin’s so-called “theory of multi-polar world” accords with the geopolitical thought of his neo-Eurasianism., emphasizing the confrontation between continental civilization and maritime civilization. Based on this, Dugin proposes his concept regarding the future new global order in the globalization era. The empire model is Dugin’s orientation for Russia’s self-identity and also the basis of his vision of “Eurasian Union” and theory of multi-polar world.
