Abstract
Since independence, the BOMCA of Central Asian countries has always not only been unable to effectively guarantee the security in this region, but also could not promote the economic development in this area either. In order to ensure its energy and security interests in Central Asia and actively promote its experiences in integrated border management, EU has primarily implemented two assistance projects through BOMCA (border management) and CADAP (Drug Operations). The Central Asian border cooperation under EU’s assistance has taken basic shape, with the ultimate aim to link Central Asian countries’ borders and their eastern neighbours’ borders, and then the eastern borders of neighbouring countries with the EU’s borders. Finally, a unified and effective border management system will be formed from the EU to Central Asia.
