Abstract

The Russian Sinologists’ stereotyped expression of “Laozi—the  aged wisdom” was produced on the basis of cultural misreading; their perception of “the king—the wisdom” in China implies the Russian ideal of “the philosopher—the king”; their praise of Confucius’s political strategies metaphorized into the political texts at that time; the Russian writers portray the image of the Chinese wisdom reflecting the intension of admiring and surpassing the traditional Chinese culture. The image of the Chinese wisdom in Russia in the 1990s is the “social imagination”, the construction of which is relevant to the value reconstruction, the activation of Eurasianism, the lack of spiritual and cultural resources of remote antiquity in Russia at that time.
