Abstract��
At the end of World War II, as one of the defeated countries, Hungary became part of Soviet Union’s sphere of influence. Thereafter until the fall of 1947, just like most Eastern European countries, Hungary experienced an interval of “people's democracy” Taking “people's democracy” as a pattern of state in transition from capitalism to socialism was then a correct option for most Eastern European countries including Hungary in accordance with their peculiar conditions, historical experiences and realities. However, with the outbreak of the Cold War on the European continent, an outwardly abrupt shift was introduced in Hungary from people’s democracy to Soviet-type socialist system. The full-scale implant of Soviet model characterized by high concentration of authority sharply transformed Hungary’s existing political, economic and socio-cultural structures , and essentially paved the way for its subsequent tortuous developments.
